Burn Ban in Effect

The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a ban on all burning in the Township effective immediately, because the fire danger indices for the area remain high, and there is no significant precipitation in the near future.

The burn ban will be in effect until further notice.

The Township website and social media accounts will be updated, as the situation changes.

Notice of Construction - Sixth Line, Atchison Road & Whitfield Road

The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan and its contractor Drain Bros. will be commencing construction activities on Sixth Line, Atchison Road and the east end of Whitfield Road.

Project Details: The existing road surface will be first pulverized, and a new aggregate base will be applied to the road followed by an application of asphalt resurfacing.

When: Work is expected to begin on August 5th and be completed by August 29th.

Traffic Impact: Traffic on these roads will be impacted, and lane closures can be expected.  Full road closures (local traffic only) may be necessary but will be temporary, (1 day maximum).

Alternate Route: Residents and visitors will have the option of either using Whitfield Road or Sixth Line/Atchison Road depending on where work is taking place.

Employment Opportunities

The Recreation, Parks, and Facilities Attendant/Operator (Seasonal), under the direction of the Manager of Recreation, Parks and Facilities, will perform custodial and general maintenance duties within the Township’s arena, curling club, facilities and parks.

Duties also include maintaining the ice surface using the ice resurfacer and other equipment as required.
