Payment Options

There are several options available for making tax, and other general payments to the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan.

Cheque payments can be sent:

  • Via mail to:

Please mail cheques well ahead of the due date to avoid interest and penalty charges. Taxpayers assume responsibility for late arrival of mailed cheques.

  • There is also a dropbox at the front door of the Municipal Office where you may leave cheques if the office is closed; and
  • You may also pay by cheque in-person at the Municipal Office during regular business hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please note:

  • Post-dated cheques cannot be returned for any reason because they are held at the bank.

2.25% fee for VISA or MasterCard credit
1.25% fee for VISA or MasterCard debit

In person payments can be made by cash, cheque, or debit only, at the Municipal Office, during regular business hours:

    • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Over-the-counter payments can be made at the following financial institutions, provided you hold an account with them

    • Kawartha Credit Union,
    • TD Canada, or
    • Scotia Bank.

If you have internet banking set up with your financial institution, you can pay your taxes or general invoices just like any other bill.

To add us as a payee: search for "Otonabee South Monaghan Taxes" or "Otonabee Taxes."

For taxes:
Your account number is your roll number, located at the top of your tax bill. It begins with 15-06. Depending on your financial institution, you may or may not need to include the dashes or the last four zeros.

For general invoices:
Your account number is the 10-digit account number found near the top of your invoice.

Please Note:
If you have multiple properties, a separate payment is required for each roll number. 

Also, please allow 2 to 3 business days for the payment to process before the tax due date to avoid interest and penalties.

Residents can sign up to have their property taxes taken out of their bank account on a monthly basis or by installment on the due date.

  • Monthly payments are taken out on the 15th of each month.
  • Installment payments are taken out on the 16th of the month that the installment is due (i.e. February's installment comes out on February 16th). 

To sign up for either of these options, please fill out the preauthorized payment enrollment form and submit it with a void cheque. 

These documents can be submitted:

  • online, using the online preauthorized payment enrollment form
  • PDF version of the preauthorized payment enrollment form scanned and emailed
  • PDF version printed and filled in with void cheque submitted to the Township office in person,
  • PDF version printed and filled in, with a void cheque mailed to the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan,
    P.O. Box 70, 20 Third Street, Keene, ON K0L 2G0

Any returned payments are subject to an administration fee of $25.00. 

If four (4) payments are returned, your preauthorized payment plan will be cancelled.

You must notify the Township at least 15 days before the next scheduled payment if there are any changes to your banking information or if you would like to cancel your preauthorized payments.

If you sell your property, do not forget to tell us so we can cancel your preauthorized payment.
