Burn Ban in Effect

The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a ban on all burning in the Township effective immediately, because the fire danger indices for the area remain high, and there is no significant precipitation in the near future.

The burn ban will be in effect until further notice.

The Township website and social media accounts will be updated, as the situation changes.

Labour Day Holiday Closure Notice

Closures for the Labour Day long weekend.

The Township & Fire Administration Offices and Waste Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Garbage & Recycling Collection

There are no garbage or recycling changes due to the Labour Day weekend.
Please be sure to have all collection out by 7:00 a.m.

Building & Planning

There are many requirements for building, planning and zoning when looking at a new project in OSM Township. Be sure you know what is required and have the proper permits before you start a project.

Burn Permits

Burn permits are required for any fire that is not a campfire type fire in OSM Township. Online permit applications are now available.

Garbage & Recycling

The OSM Township provides curbside garbage and recycling pick-up to residents.

A public consultation period is required when property owners request any Planning Act application. All planning notice documents can be found in this section
