March 9, 2026

Keene, Ontario - The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan and the Otonabee-South Monaghan Fire Department were pleased to welcome MPP Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, and MPP David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, to the Township this morning.

During the visit, the Township acknowledged the Province of Ontario’s support through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant program. Through this funding, the Otonabee-South Monaghan Fire Department has received $35,969 to purchase a drone and related equipment that will assist in gathering real-time data on potential flooding within the Township.

The new technology will strengthen the Fire Department’s ability to monitor changing conditions, support informed decision-making during emergencies, and enhance the Township’s overall preparedness and response capabilities.

“The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan is grateful for the Province’s support through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant program,” said Mayor Joe Taylor. “This investment will provide our Fire Department with valuable tools to monitor flood risks and help keep our community safe.”

The Township thanks the Province of Ontario for its continued investment in initiatives that strengthen community safety and resilience.
