Half Load Restrictions - 2026

Half-load restrictions in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan will begin on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic.
During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas.
Restrictions will remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.

General Seasonal Labourer - Public Works & Waste Management

The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan is presently accepting applications for the position of “General Seasonal Labourer.” This position falls under the operational umbrella of two divisions – Public Works and Waste Management.

As a General Seasonal Labourer, you will be responsible for working alongside the public works personnel & the Waste Management Coordinator.

Good interpersonal skills are necessary, along with the ability to work on an “as needed” basis, in relation to weekends, etc. The range of pay for a fully qualified applicant is $19.77 - $23.53 per hour (2026 rate). A clean driver’s abstract and clean criminal records check must be provided by the successful candidate before a job offer is accepted.
