The Dog Control Officer for the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan enf
orces the Dog Control By-law in a consistent and efficient manner. Dogs must have a dog tag and be kept under control at all times. Dog owners are subject to penalties or prosecution under the Dog Control By-law and/or the Dog Owners Liability Act.
The Dog Control Officer is sensitive to the rights and welfare of Township residents as well as the humane treatment of dogs.
Please contact the Dog Control Officer if you would like to:
- Report a missing dog;
- Report a dog running at large;
- Obtain a dog tag;
- Or ask questions about dog ownership in the Township.
2022 Dog Tag Fees
Dog tag fees for 2022 are due upon receipt of the invoice.
If you have not received an invoice for your dog tag, please contact the Township office. Failure to receive an invoice does not excuse the dog owner from the payment of fees.
If there is an error on your dog tag invoice, please contact the Township office immediately so we can correct the issue.
Payments options include:
- Cash, cheque, or debit in person at the Township office at 20 Third Street, Keene. The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. There is a dropbox at the front door where you may leave cheques after hours.
- Cheque via mail to The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, P.O. Box 70, 20 Third Street, Keene, ON K0L 2G0. Please mail cheques well ahead of the due date to avoid penalty. Dog owners take responsibility for the late delivery of mail.
- Internet/telebanking through your financial institution. NOTE: Please use your dog tag account number when making payments with this method. Do not include your payment with your property taxes.
