The Township of Otonabee- South Monaghan is a rural community located in the County of Peterborough on the North Shore of Rice Lake. Roughly 90 minutes east of Toronto, Otonabee-South Monaghan covers an area of approximately 350km with the Village of Keene as the primary centre. On January 1, 1998, the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan was created through the amalgamation of Otonabee in the east and South Monaghan in the west.
