The Council of the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan is the Head for purposes of the Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act. However, Council has designated its powers or duties under the Act to the Clerk.
To request records under the Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, you must first complete a Freedom of Information (FOI) Request Form. Requesters should provide as much detail as they can about the records sought. The completed form should be sent to the Clerk, with the application fee of $5.00.
A request is processed within 30 calendar days. The Township, during this timeframe, must either provide access to the requested record or notify the individual that the information is exempt under the specific provisions of the Act. If for any reason the Township requires a time extension the requestor must be notified. A fee estimate will be provided for large record requests.
Many documents in the possession of the Clerk are public documents and subject to routine disclosure at no cost except photocopying charges.
